Emirates Airlines, the global leader in international air transport, has announced a significant expansion of its services to South Africa. Starting March 1, 2025, Emirates will add a fourth daily flight between Dubai and Johannesburg, thereby reinforcing its presence in this key market.
This new service, operated by a three-class Boeing 777-300ER, will offer an additional 708 seats per day in each direction. Flight EK767 will depart Dubai at 00:10 to arrive in Johannesburg at 06:20, while the return flight EK768 will leave Johannesburg at 10:15 to land in Dubai at 20:15. This new morning rotation from Johannesburg broadens travel options for passengers.
Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, emphasized the importance of this expansion: “South Africa remains a highly popular destination for both business and leisure travelers connecting through Dubai. This fourth daily flight allows us to better serve the growing demand in this market.”
This frequency increase enables Emirates to restore its pre-pandemic capacity in South Africa, with 49 weekly flights serving three airports in the country. The airline thus reinforces its commitment to the South African market, which it has been serving for nearly 30 years.
The new flight also improves connectivity to over 140 destinations in Emirates’ global network, optimizing connections to key destinations in Asia and Europe. Moreover, thanks to codeshare agreements with local partners, Emirates passengers can access 60 additional regional destinations in Africa.
This expansion is not limited to passenger transport. Cargo capacity is also increasing, offering an additional 300 tonnes per week for the export of South African products such as fresh fruits, meat, dairy products, and cut flowers.
Since its first flight to Johannesburg in June 1995, Emirates has become a major partner in South African aviation, tourism, and trade. The airline has transported over 20 million passengers to and from South Africa, demonstrating its long-term commitment to this dynamic market.
